Ripped from the Headlines

Let’s not leave Halloween behind quite yet. I found this fascinating article online: the murder that inspired Edgar Allan Poe (how could I have left him off my list of Halloween-ish books?!) and Nathaniel Hawthorne.

I can’t think of any of my stories that were inspired by a news story. They tend to be sparked from something I see or experience in my day-to-day life.

Do headlines inspire your writing?

I’ve often thought that a book about someone getting out of the Twin Towers on 911 but then not telling anyone they’d survived would be a good premise, story could be about their undercover life afterwards. Too lazy to write it, though.
